HAGOPIAN BUILDS ON TRADITION: FAMILY CARPET AND RUG BUSINESS STAYS ONE STEP AHEAD OF RETAIL TRENDS.(Company Profile)

HFN: The Weekly Newspaper for the Home Furnishing Network, January, 1999 by Herlihy, Janet

Birmingham, Mich.-Hagopian World of Rugs just keeps getting better. The family-owned business was honored with a Retailer of the Year award at the ’98 summer Atlanta rug market; opened its fourth retail location in the Detroit metropolitan area this past fall; and celebrates 60 years in the carpet and rug industry this year.

The Hagopians’ history is an entrepreneurial success story built on staying one step ahead of changing consumer demand. In 1939, Haroutun “Harry” Hagopian began with the Carpet Dyeing Service Co., dedicated to removing stains and dyeing carpets. Because all carpets needed to be cleaned before they could be dyed, the first Hagopian company moved into maintenance, and became Hagopian and Sons Inc

Thursday, 29 July 2010

Some environmentalists, although supporting of the use of Biodiesel as a viable fuel option, are not in favor of raising production of the vegetation needed to manufacture more Biodiesel. The argument being that if natural vegetative growth is removed to make room for the growing and harvesting of plants intended to be used in the manufacturing of Biodiesel, then in the end the Earth would suffer in spite of it?s well intentioned efforts.

Biodiesel, as a fuel, has many sources or raw materials but none so plentiful that it could challenge the current standardized petroleum based oil industry.

Mark Allen is a strong supporter of the continued serch for a viable alternative-fuel.

BlueAnt Develops Handsfree Driving Applications for Android Phones

0 Comments | Wireless News, Jun 28, 2010

BlueAnt Wireless, a provider of Bluetooth peripheral devices and accessories, announced the availability of new Android applications for the S4 True Handsfree Car Speakerphone and the T1 Rugged Bluetooth Headset.

Like BlueAnt’s Q1 Android Application, which launched earlier this year, these new applications allow T1 and S4 users to hear incoming text messages read aloud automatically. The applications also provide help with pairing the devices, support tips, and a direct link to the BlueAnt Customer Service team.

The company said the T1 provides the best wind noise reduction of any Bluetooth headset on the market, delivering clear audio in wind speeds up to 22 mph, and the S4 is a true handsfree car speakerphone, allowing drivers to communicate on the road using their voice and without needing to touch their phone or car speakerphone at all.

“These applications are another example of how we offer users a true handsfree experience and an integration between their BlueAnt device and their smartphone,” said Taisen Maddern, Executive Chairman of BlueAnt Wireless. “The applications also demonstrate that our commitment to supporting users continues long after they leave the store. As well as adding extra features and enhancements through free applications such as these, we also release regular firmware upgrades to add new features to devices.”

BlueAnt noted that features of both applications include:

-Listen to your text messages – When users receive a text message their BlueAnt device will automatically read out the full message using Text To Speech technology.

-Help and Support – The BlueAnt Android applications provide a direct connection to BlueAnt’s customer service center to help users with any product need.

-User Manual – Both applications also feature a searchable manual that has been customized and formatted to fit the phone’s screen.

The applications work with any Android handset running Android OS 2.0 or above, and are available as a free download for all S4 and T1 owners.

I have to achieve a balance

Wednesday, 28 July 2010

I have to achieve a balance in my articles to cater to both types of readers.

Who is going to write the blog entries

? If you are the sole proprietor of the business you are promoting and have no employees, this will have to be you, as no one else knows your business as well as you do. If you have employees, you might have them participate: you sketch out ideas, they finish the articles. Or if your employees don’t have sufficient writing skills, you might consider an intern who wants to learn your business.

Who is responsible for the quality of the content

? Someone has to take on the role of editor. Ultimately, as a business owner, you should “own” the content. If the blog is promoting your business, it must maintain credibility, otherwise that will reflect badly on your business.

If they have visited

Wednesday, 28 July 2010

If they have visited the eBay site, they have often be over-whelmed by all the links, warnings, and terms specific to eBay. It seems as if they have wandered into a meeting of a secret organization and lack the password and handshake, and they feel that anything they do will be greeted with derision, if not complete animosity.

One thing that almost any course about selling on eBay can do is familiarize you to some extent with the experience. That will erase some of the fear and uncertainty. A GOOD course on selling on eBay can cut your evolutionary time considerably because the author will have already been there and can guide you past some of the pitfalls and help you mutate more quickly than you could grow through simple evolution.

Wednesday, 28 July 2010

However, one has to follow a strict dietary regimen and take other precautions, as kidney stones have a tendency to return. One can prevent that to some extent by following a healthy lifestyle and balanced diet, as suggested by your doctor and dietician.

One may have to get hospitalized for treatment of kidney stones. The first part of treatment is diagnosis. This is done with the help of x-rays, urine and blood tests. The urine and blood tests confirm the presence of kidney stones, and x-rays reveal their exact location and relative size. Patients are generally put on intravenous fluids to restore their hydration levels, and their diet is restricted. After a couple of days, based on your physical condition and reports of the tests, the doctors would inform you about various alternative courses of action. In some cases, patients may not have any alternatives but to undergo surgery. However, in other cases, the patients may be given the option to get rid of kidney stones naturally, with the help of an increase in fluid intake.

Usually, the size of these stones is not more than that of tomato seeds and one feels immediate relief as soon as they get out of your body.

HSBC’s ‘little red book’ is perfect for an idle cruise; Gadf ly gadfly@financialmail.co.uk

0 Comments | Mail on Sunday (London, England), The, July 18, 2010

PERHAPS in honour of its Chinese roots, banking group HSBC has published not exactly the thoughts of Chairman Mao but the ’100 thoughts of London’s best business thinkers’, which gives, apparently, ‘a wealth of entrepreneurial insight’.

First in to bat is ‘serial entrepreneur’ Sir Eric Peacock, who is certainly a serial thinker, accounting for six of the 100 quotes.

Equally prolix is Gary Beckwith, proprietor of City Cruises, one of whose ‘thoughts’ begins: ‘I am quite happy to go around the offices every day and ask the question “Why isn’t that happening?”.’ We hope things not happening at Beckwith HQ is rarer than this ‘thought’ suggests.

Let us find

Tuesday, 27 July 2010

Let us find out the difference here.

The more likely symptoms that is related to acid reflux are that the pain can continue for hours, or retrosternal pain without lateral radiation. Also, pain that interrupts sleep, or that happened after meals, may be related to heartburn from acid reflux. Heartburn pain is also easily relieved with antacid agents, unlike heart disease or heart conditions.

Sometimes, one can have both acid reflux heartburn and heart disease issues both at the same time. Some people with coronary artery disease may develop chest pain from their acid reflux, which is believed that the acid in the esophagus may provoke nerves that temporarily impair blood flow to the heart, hence causing chest pain. This however, is probably not a heart attack. That is why it is important, especially for people with heart problems, to have their chest pain checked immediately by a doctor to determine the cause of the pain.

So what symptoms are immediate signs of danger? You must contact the doctor or call 911 immediately if you never had heartburn or acid reflux before, and that you are experiencing chest pain, pressure of chest and heart, and difficulty in breathing.

Foreclosure relief effort could backfire

0 Comments | Telegraph – Herald; Dubuque, Iowa, Jul 21, 2010 | by ALAN ZIBEL

WASHINGTON – The Obama administration’s effort to help those at risk of losing their homes is failing to aid many and could spur a rise in foreclosures that would further depress the housing industry.

More foreclosures would force down home prices and that would deter already-ailing homebuilders from starting new projects.

As a result, the economic rebound could suffer. Each new home built creates, on average, the equivalent of three jobs for a year and generates about $90,000 in taxes paid to local and federal authorities, according to the National Association of Home Builders.

“Foreclosures hold down the pricing for everybody,” said Marty Mitchell, vice chief executive officer of Mitchell& Best Home Builders in Rockville, Md. “As a builder, we have to be cognizant of foreclosures, if there are more coming along, because it affects pricing across the board.”

More than 40 percent of the 1.3 million homeowners enrolled in the Obama administration’s mortgage relief effort have fallen out of the program, the Treasury Department said Tuesday.

“The program really hasn’t helped a lot of people, or at least not nearly as many had been hoped for,” said Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics. He predicts that about 2 million homes are likely to be sold over the next 12 to 18 months as foreclosures or short sales.

Many borrowers have complained that banks often lose their documents and then claim borrowers did not send back the necessary paperwork.
